Now, I'm working on a new series that I'm testing on my new iPhone.

Portrait Commissions!!

Thu Feb 26, 2009, 6:12 AM
Everywhere on DA I see artists declaring they're "open for commissions". Really? Do people commission people on here? Have decided to try it myself.

My offer:
Commission a unique vector portrait of yourself or someone to gift it to.
Perhaps in the stylish Julian Opie style.
See example: :thumb114182237: [link]

Or else, in my own "cleaned up" graphic style, see: [link]

Your own personalised, uber-cool portrait to hang in your room.

To commission your portrait:
1. Note me
2. Email me a midshot photograph of yourself (or the person whose portrait you want painted).
3. Give me 1-2 days to create the vector artwork
4. Check the uploaded artwork (watermarked)
5. Buy it as a print here from the DA store (starting from $14 approx for the 9" x 12").

Best known among our generation, perhaps, for the BLUR Album cover: [link]
Who's Blur, you ask?
Oh dear.

Rediscovering the pencil

Fri Nov 21, 2008, 3:44 AM
Been stuck away from my Mac for far, far too long I've resorted to my old standard - the PENCIL!!

Starting with a fabulous Lyra Graphitkreide (graphite sketching pastel) my dad gave me, then 0.5 retractable drafting pencils --- I'm rediscovering the joys of sketching, smudging, shading.... and the not-such-a-joy of NO UNDO's!!!

Shortlisted for Publication

Thu Mar 13, 2008, 12:02 AM
Been shortlisted for Expose 6 (the latest in Ballistic Publishing's gorgeously produced digital art books). Doubt will make it to the final publication, the quality is usually astronomical and thousands more better than me.

Digital Darkroom

Tue Oct 9, 2007, 10:00 AM
Been neglecting Deviant art a little as was busy with the screening of my film at the Raindance Film Festival.

Now that's over, have been applying newly learned tricks (never thought I had anything left to learn re Photoshop) to my DSLR photography. Including scanned in negatives of old medium format black and white photos.

The culprit responsible for thus distracting me is a book I bought recently: "Advanced Digital B&W Photography" by John Beardsworth. After ages of deliberating over several outwardly similar books, this turned out to be most comprehensive for the jaded over-photoshopped digital photographer.

Some of the results of the recent learnings can be examined here:

I'm determined to maintain a semblance of organisation in my work online - limiting photos to Flickr and digital art to Deviantart, oh, and Video excerpts to Youtube.
